This study's objective was to measure the proportion of unbalanced chromosome rearrangements in blastocyst-stage embryos from individuals who carry a pericentric inversion of chromosome 1 (PEI-1). An analysis of 98 embryos from 22 individuals carrying the PEI-1 inversion was carried out to determine the presence of unbalanced chromosomal rearrangements and overall aneuploidy. Based on logistic regression analysis, the ratio of inverted segment size to chromosome length emerged as a statistically significant risk factor for unbalanced chromosome rearrangements in individuals with the PEI-1 genetic marker (p=0.003).
