A randomized, double-blind clinical trial in a Ugandan birth cohort from Busia, Eastern Uganda, involved the assessment of Sulfadoxine-Pyrimethamine (SP) and Dihydroartemisinin-Piperaquine (DP) IPTp. Children in the 75th percentile or above for total IgG against six key P. falciparum antigens (Pf SEA, Rh42, AMA1, GLURP, Etramp5Ag1 and EBA 175) showed a statistically significant increased risk of malaria within their first year. Hazard ratios for these associations were: Rh42 (1.092, 95%CI 1.02-1.17); PfSEA (1.32, 95%CI 1.00-1.74); Etramp5Ag1 (1.21, 95%CI 0.97-1.52); AMA1 (1.25, 95%CI 0.98-1.60); GLURP (1.83, 95%CI 1.15-2.93); and EBA175 (1.35, 95%CI 1.03-1.78). Infants born to mothers categorized as the poorest demonstrated the highest likelihood of malaria infection in their first year, resulting in an adjusted hazard ratio of 179 (95% confidence interval: 131-240). Mothers' malaria infection during pregnancy was associated with a higher likelihood of their infants developing malaria in their first year of life (adjusted hazard ratio 1.30; 95% confidence interval 0.97-1.70).
Despite receiving malaria prophylaxis (either DP or SP) during pregnancy, there is no difference in antibody expression against P. falciparum-specific antigens in the cord blood of their babies. The impact of poverty and malaria infections during pregnancy is substantial in determining malaria risk for infants during their first year. Antibodies generated against specific P. falciparum antigens are ineffective in preventing parasitemia and malaria infections in the first year of life for children in malaria-endemic areas.
Prenatal malaria prevention, utilizing DP or SP, does not change the expression of antibodies against P. falciparum-specific antigens in the cord blood specimens. Poverty during pregnancy, along with malaria infections, are substantial risk factors for malaria in a child's first year of life. Antibodies specific to Plasmodium falciparum antigens do not prevent parasitemia and malaria in children during their first year of life, especially in endemic regions.

Following a database search, 1494 records were identified. Abstracts and full texts were examined and condensed, guided by the dual-control method. We elaborated on the facets of quality indicators and the influence of the school nurse's effectiveness. In a preliminary phase, sixteen systematic reviews, each adhering to the AMSTAR-2 criteria, were synthesized and assessed. The 357 primary studies (j) contained within the 16 reviews (k) were summarized and assessed in a second stage, adhering to GRADE guidelines.
